My first two weeks of my junior year has been great. Coming to school during the first week was a breeze. I was very familiar with the classes and teachers I take. I decided to also get more active this year so I signed up for cross country. I was introduced to AP classes this year. AP classes requires me to take classes more serious but all I really need to do is do my assignments and turn them in on time.  My AP English class has been a challenge more than any subject but I'm going to work hard and do my best. I'm already mentally prepared for all my classes and willing to accept any challenge handed my way. I'm ready to see what the rest of the year has in store for me.

The novel "a lesson before dying" is about a man named Jefferson being in the wrong place at the wrong time, which leads to him going to jail and sentenced to be executed. while being sentenced he was called everything that he wasn't. Such as boy and hog. His grandmother ,miss Emma, insisted that Jefferson dies with dignity so she asked her friend, Tante Lou, if her nephew , Grant Wiggins, could teach him and educate Jefferson on the strong and dignified man he is before his is executed. grant really didn't want anything to do with Jefferson but, for the sake of miss Emma he did. This novel sets an emotional tone in this book once grant and Jefferson actually come together. Grant sees no potential in Jefferson due to the way of how Jefferson feel about himself. Pg. 106 paragraph 5 Quote 1 “He wandered around watching the soldiers looting, and joined in the drinking and destruction.” Answer to question 1 This quote relates to survivors guilt. Kien starts to drink and be destructive due to oanh death knowing he could’ve did something to prevent it from happening. Answer to question 3 The conflict is between kien and himself. Kien starts to beat himself up over knowing all he had to do was do his job and kill those women but he didn’t and ended up getting a friend killed instead. Quote 2 Pg. 111 paragraph 8 “She was tired, yet she did not try to free her hand from his” Answer to question 3 This quote indicates a good conflict between the mute girl and kien.
