"The check board Gaines another square"

•Summary•
This article is about the pct trail finally being legally protected thanks to the land and water conservation fund (the LWCF). The pacific crest trail is apart of forest two parcels that didn't legally protect it. The LWCF was able to step in and change that. If land is purchased through the LWCF then that land will be available for public outdoor recreation use forever. This fund has done a lot for all Americans by expanding local parks, recreational green spaces, and open spaces. Not only does it give outdoor recreational use but it gives access to fishing and hunting and supports economic vitality and jobs in communities. The LWCF is a fund very much needed by Americans and the community.
•3 things I learned•
- when hiking through the pct you weren't fully protected once it went through privately owned land.
- when cutting down trees in a public area you have to replant treed so that they are able to replenish themselves and grow back.
-  there are parks that can be up to over 6 million acres large.
•questions•
If having the pct part of privately owned land was such a problems, why didn't they just changed the direction of the trail?
